Often, the writing on most web pages ends up being the weak link. If your copy, or content strategy is lacking your website won’t have the same impact it could have otherwise. Writing killer copy is an art form, but by following the Writing Tips below you’ll be on your way.

Improving the copy on your website can provide a host of benefits. From increased conversions, to more satisfied customers, to a website that connects better on all levels. Here are some writing tips.

1. Always Use A Powerful Headline

The headline is going to be the first thing your customers read and it’s what’s going to draw them in to the rest of what you’ve written. With a poor or weak headline you won’t be enticing your users to click and find out what awaits.

Your headline should be actionable, enticing, and provide a glimpse of what’s to come.

2. Solve Their Most Pressing Problems

Once you have their attention you need to continue to provide value for them to stick around. You can do this by finding out what your customers actually want, and deliver it to them. The process is simple, but it takes you getting to know your customer.

Solving their problems is the real reason they’re coming to you in the first place. If your copy can do this time and time again you’re going to build a customer for life.

You need to show them you have a deep understanding of their issue, and know how to fix it.

3. Elicit An Emotional Response

Emotion is what’s going to convince your customers to buy. If you only list facts and numbers you’re only going to be speaking to the rational mind of your customer.

You need to create an experience for your customer where they can literally see themselves using your product or service.

4. Get Inside Their Head

This is a continuation of the previous steps, but it needs to be reiterated that for your copy to pop you need to get inside the head of your customer. You need to predict their objects and carefully lay out how those objections can be solved.

Write your copy as if you’re writing to one person.

5. Make Sure You Close The Deal

Once you’ve enticed your customer, showed them you know how to solve their problems, and painted a picture of their life with your service or product, then you need to tell them what to do next.

Make your call to action simple, but powerful. Tell them exactly what to do.
